The decision to remain on strike defies the Canadian Jobs Minister’s decision to intervene using Section 107 of the Canada Labor Code.

Air Canada said it plans to resume flights later on Sunday (August 17), a day after the government issued a directive to end a cabin crew strike that had caused hundreds of flights to be suspended.

"This is not a decision that I have taken lightly. The potential for immediate negative impact on Canadians and our economy is simply too great," Hajdu told journalists.
