Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday vetoed $6.8 million, or about 28% of the roughly $24 million state lawmakers wanted for Indian River Lagoon cleanups and other environmental-type projects in Brevard County. But the lagoon still garnered tens of millions toward ongoing cleanups.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday signed what he said was a $117.4 billion budget for the fiscal year that will start Tuesday and issued $567 million in line-item vetoes.

Money for a Daytona Beach police training facility, DeBary flood control and a new Orange City fire station were among vetoes from the state budget.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on June 30 signed the 2025-26 budget after vetoing almost $600 million in programs and projects from the $115.1 billion spending plan composed by lawmakers. One of the budget casualties: $6.25 million for the study that the Legislature approved to restore the flow of the Ocklawaha River and dismantle a controversial dam.

More than $8 million in project funding was cut from Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in the state's budget, signed Monday by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
