Local fire services say one Hamburger SV fan suffered "life-threatening injuries" and 19 more were seriously injured in celebrations after the team's return to the Bundesliga.

Dozens have been injured, 19 of them seriously, in connection with SV Hamburg's Bundesliga promotion celebrations, the local fire brigade has said. Fans had invaded the pitch after the final whistle of Hamburg's 6-1 victory over Ulm which secured the return to the top flight after seven years in the second division.

After seven years of suffering, Hamburger SV finally clinched their return to the Bundesliga by routing Ulm 6-1 in Germany's second division on Saturday.
