After the Chicago Cubs missed out on Alex Bregman this winter, Jed Hoyer decided to add veteran corner infielder Justin Turner. To make room on the roster for their newest addition, the Cubs had to cut ties with outfielder Alexander Canario.

Notes: Manager Craig Counsell already had hinted that left-hander Shota Imanaga would be the Cubs' Opening Day starter in Tokyo, but now it's official.

That opportunity should not be wasted. Tucker will likely explore free agency after this season in Chicago. Hoyer is in the final year of his contract with the Cubs. Craig Counsell will have to make more of an impact as the highest-paid manager in the game. A strong farm system remains largely intact, leaving a lot of prospects for win-now trades.
