ROME (Reuters) - Pope Francis, who is being treated in hospital for double pneumonia, is not in danger of death but is not yet cured, one of his doctors, Sergio Alfieri, said on Friday. "Is he out of danger? No. But if the question is 'is he in danger of death', the answer is 'no'," Alfieri told a press conference.

His doctors said “the pope is fine” and “working,” though they cautioned he remains in significant danger as he fights a bout of double pneumonia.

Is the pope out of danger? No. Both doors are open. Is he at risk of immediate death? No. The therapy needs time to work,” Sergio Alfieri, a surgeon who has operated on the pope in the past, said during a press conference on Friday.
