Pete DeBoer has never lost a Game 7 as an NHL coach. Jared Bednar has never won one. They will be on opposite benches when the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche play what seems like the only fitting end for their first-round series in this year's NHL playoffs — a Game 7 on Saturday night.

This year's first-round matchups feature some key rematches from last season, including the defending champion Florida Panthers facing in-state rival Tampa Bay Lighting and last year's runner-up Edmonton Oilers facing the Los Angeles Kings for the fourth year in a row.

The Leafs will next have to take on the Florida Panthers in their quest to reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2002. The reigning Stanley Cup champions advanced to the second round for the fourth straight year on Wednesday after claiming a 6-3 Game 5 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
