Mark Joseph Carney was born on March 16, 1965 in Fort Smith, N.W.T, to Robert (Bob) James Martin Carney and mother, Verlie Margaret Carney. His parents were both teachers, however Verlie put her career on hold to raise Carney and his three siblings, Brenda, Sean and Brian.
