The Michelin Guide has added four more San Francisco restaurants to its prestigious culinary catalogue. The French tire company’s publication on Wednesday named Chinatown's Four Kings, the Financial District’s Verjus, SoMa’s The Wild and the Embaracadero’s Prelude as four of 15 new additions to its list of top eateries in California.

On Wednesday, the Michelin Guide announced 15 new additions to its California guide, including seven Bay Area restaurants. While being added to the California guide does not mean a restaurant has earned a Michelin star or Bib Gourmand distinction,

San Francisco’s buzzy Four Kings is among the seven new Bay Area additions to the Michelin California guide for 2025. The trendy Chinatown spot known for its contemporary take on Cantonese cuisine has earned widespread accolades since opening last year.

The newest Michelin-approved restaurants hail from San Francisco, Oakland, Petaluma, Sonoma, and Carmel-by-the-Sea

The dining world’s prestigious Michelin Guide on Wednesday named 15 restaurants in the Bay Area, Central Coast and Southern California as “new discoveries” — a prelude to the release later this year of its California stars.

In alphabetical order, the seven L.A. area restaurants are as follows, with full inspector notes available via Michelin’s official press release. All restaurants are within city limits unless otherwise specified; we’ve linked to Time Out’s write-ups for each, and noted our own star designations with brackets.

For North Carolina, a Michelin Guide would place Raleigh and Charlotte in a different tier of restaurant consideration. The Triangle’s acclaimed food scene has collected several James Beard awards and other accolades, but a Michelin Guide would allow North Carolina’s restaurants to be compared against the very best in the world.
