New first name and last name data shows which names in the U.S. are the most popular and which aren’t anymore.

Census data show Smith remains the most common U.S. last name while Asian surnames such as Zhang and Liu grew fastest.

The U.S. Census Bureau released the list of 1,000 most common first names, based on data collected during the 2020 Census.
