Tropical Storm Melissa has begun dumping rain on Hispaniola as forecasters warned of a flood risk in parts of the Caribbean region this week.

The IMD has warned of heavy rain, strong winds, and rough sea conditions along the Andhra coast during the period of landfall.

Tamil Nadu is on alert for heavy rainfall this week, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Although a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea intensified into a depression, another over the Bay of Bengal is weakening.

Rain will continue across most places. Heavy rainfall (7–11 cm) is expected in one or two locations. Yellow warnings are active for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki. Rain or thundershowers are likely in many parts of Kerala during this period.

IMD experts indicated that the cyclonic circulation is currently positioned over the south Andaman Sea, extending up to the middle levels of the troposphere over the southeast Bay of Bengal.
