The driver of an SUV that slammed into a redwood tree and burst into flames in Marin County lost control of the vehicle while speeding, according to a CHP report obtained by the Chronicle.

A woman was killed and a juvenile girl injured in a crash in Jefferson County, Friday, according to the sheriff's office. The crash involved a car and a dump truck around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 79 (Pinson Valley Parkway) between Carson Road and Jefferson State Park. The woman and child were in the car, according to Center Point Fire District (CPFD).

OWATONNA, Minn. — A wrong-way driver who had been drinking alcohol caused a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 14 early Sunday morning.
