Five Palestinians, including a 60-year-old woman, were killed by Israeli forces in Jenin in the past 24 hours, the Palestinian Authority said on Tuesday, adding to a rising toll from one of the largest military operations in the West Bank in recent years.

Israeli fire has killed eight people in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours even as a fragile ceasefire with Hamas has largely held.

Tension has been running high across the West Bank, where at least 931 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 7,000 injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers since the start of the onslaught on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Israeli tanks on Sunday stormed the town of Wadi Burqin, west of Jenin in the northern West Bank, firing randomly as part of an ongoing military operation in the city and its refugee camp. The tanks entered the town from the Jenin camp and fired their machine guns indiscriminately before returning to the camp, witnesses told Anadolu.

The IDF killed three terrorists and arrested 35 wanted terrorists during an overnight operation in the West Bank, the IDF announced on Tuesday. Among the 35 terrorists that were arrested were Hamas-affiliated terrorists.
