Mebane's Buc-ee's mega gas station site has not officially begun construction, but land grading and traffic control nearby is already starting.

Hooks told WFMY News 2 that the gas station is set to open up in the summer of 2027. The project was announced back in January 2024. Mebane City Council unanimously approved bringing the Texas-based chain in, despite an eight-hour debate with the community.
