A medical incident in January caused Mike Fincke to be evacuated from the space station - but no one understands what happened.
Faced with the imminent retirement of the International Space Station, NASA is pushing to speed up work on its potential replacements
As part of phase two, running from 2029 to 2032, NASA will seek to secure a site for a lunar base. This phase is projected to entail 27 landings with a total mass of 60 metric tons. These landed payloads would include larger, pressurized rovers, solar and nuclear power sources for surface activities, towers for communication, and excavator rovers.
NASA’s proposed changes to its support of commercial space stations have created concern and confusion among companies developing them.
NASA astronaut Mike Fincke said he suddenly was unable to speak while on board the ISS, triggering the first-ever medical evacuation. Earlier this year, NASA announced the first-ever medical evacuation in the International Space Station’s 25 years of continuous human occupation.
The internet went into a frenzy on Friday when a NASA astronaut shared a weird alien-looking photo on social media.

Metro Atlanta elementary school students talk to astronaut from International Space Station
To prepare for the conversation, the stem students did extensive research on space exploration and micro-gravity.
NASA proposed a new solution that would bind the private companies more closely to NASA, requiring them not to build free-flying space stations but rather to work directly with the space agency on modules that would, at least initially, dock with the International Space Station. This change was not well-received.
