WASHINGTON — The House plans to vote Wednesday evening on legislation to reopen the federal government and end an acrimonious 43-day shutdown, the longest in American history.

A bill to end the record-breaking U.S. government shutdown is headed to President Donald Trump's desk after more than 42 days.

Hakeem Jeffries, the top House Democrat, has urged his colleagues to vote against the bill.
