Multiple residents were forced to leave their apartments on Monday night after a broken standpipe at an apartment complex in downtown Sacramento.

A second-alarm fire tore through an abandoned commercial building in the Arden-Arcade area Monday night. Firefighters with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District were dispatched around 9:43 p.m. to reports of a commercial structure fire at the intersection of Marconi and Watt Avenue.

Metro Fire said the fire began on the first floor and spread to the second floor due to strong wind conditions. It then spread into the attic space.
