The two incidents occurred just days after there were shooting scares at both Villanova and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Aug. 21.

Following a series of apparent swatting attempts that triggered active shooter alerts at college campuses over the last two days, Kansas State announced it intercepted a swatting attempt on Monday afternoon.

The University of South Carolina Police Department said it believes the active shooter reports Sunday night were part of a swatting hoax. Police said they got two separate calls Sunday at 6:30:42 p.m. and 6:32:20 p.m, reporting an active shooter at the Thomas Cooper Library.
