Russian troops attacked railway infrastructure in Chernihiv with a strike drone in the morning. As a result of the Russian strike, equipment was damaged and one person was wounded, according to the Chernihiv regional prosecutor's office.

The affected trains included routes between Dnipro and Kyiv, Ternopil and Kyiv, and the international Kyiv–Warsaw route.

Zelensky described the incident as a “savage” attack, and said both railway staff and passengers were at the strike of the drone strike.

As the front lines of the war in Ukraine continue to be described as a “meat grinder,” the shadow wars between the Kremlin and Kyiv have intensified, with covert assassinations, railway sabotage and car bombings become more common.

Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine's railway infrastructure as autumn sets in, resulting in increasing train delays and cancellations.

This will be the fourth consecutive winter of outages since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.
