Boston faces a hot Thursday with a Heat Advisory; relief and cooler temperatures are expected after a cold front with potential rain and thunderstorms later in the day.

Thursday will be the second day of expected 90-degree temperatures for Greater Boston, with high temperatures and humidity in the forecast through the end of the week.All of western and parts of central Massachusetts are currently under a severe weather threat for Thursday.

A heat advisory is in effect in Boston and several other Massachusetts communities through 7 p.m. on July 17. The National Weather Service warned of "dangerous heat and humidity" with heat indices soaring to 95 to 100 degrees.

Heat alerts extend nearly statewide with high dew points making it feel closer to the mid-90s or slightly higher across the region.
