The United States Supreme Court will not take up Karen Read's appeal of the verdict in her first trial on grounds of double jeopardy.

Whatever criticism or praise may be directed at Chief Justice John Roberts about his leadership or controversial votes in notable individual cases, one thing should be understood about his 20-year tenure: he cares deeply about the institution over which he presides and in the preservation of its unique role in the nation’s governance.

The U.S. Supreme Court has denied Karen Read’s petition for certiorari, and therefore will not review her case.
