Sony’s Full-Year Results Buoyed by Games, Music, Film Units The Japanese electronics and entertainment giant sold a record 7.8 million PlayStation 5 units for the fiscal year.

In Q3 2020, over 103.7 million games were sold across the PS4 and PS5, 18.4 million of which were first-party games. 53% of the sales were made through Sony’s digital download services.

Sony Pictures Entertainment recorded a $212M profit in the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2020, good for a 316% upward swing versus the similar period in 2019.

For the first time since 2017, Sony has managed to pull a profit on its Xperia smartphones over the last fiscal year despite COVID-19.
