The Eaton Fire was first reported around 6:30 p.m. local time near the eastern Los Angeles suburb of Altadena, according to KTTV and CBS News. It has since set 1,000 acres ablaze and remains at 0% containment, according to Cal Fire.

"I'm just dealing," said Dorothy Graves. "I know that sounds strange, but I've been a strong Black woman for a long time, and I just can't break down now."

As many as 11,000 people will be able to return home as crews continue to get a handle on fires that started during an extreme wind event on Jan. 7, but another round of fire weather could last for much of next week.
