Texas and coach Steve Sarkisian have agreed on a new contract more than a week after the Longhorns were knocked out of the College Football Playoff, according to media reports. The Action Network first reported the new deal that it said came after Sarkisian declined interviews with two NFL teams for coaching spots.

The 2024 season may not have ended the way that fans of the Texas Longhorns hoped it would, but at the very least, folks in the Lone Star State can rest comfortably knowing that the Texas football program won’t need to undergo an unexpected coaching search this offseason.

It comes after Sarkisian already agreed to four-year extension in 2024, which bumped his yearly salary to more than $10 million.
