Kid Rock was born on January 17, 1971, in Romeo, Michigan. He developed an early interest in hip-hop, teaching himself to rap and DJ, and became active in Detroit's music scene during the late 1980s.

The musician said on Friday that his band is "diverse," not because of DEI efforts but because "they're the best at what they do."

"This kid pretty much came out figuratively with both middle fingers in the air, doing what he does for the people who love what he does, unapologetically," said Kid Rock.
