The San Francisco 49ers began their search for a new defensive coordinator Thursday by interviewing Robert Saleh for a second stint at the job and Detroit Lions assistant Deshea Townsend. Saleh is a 2001 graduate of Northern Michigan University who played football for four years for the Wildcats.

(AP) — The San Francisco 49ers began their search for a new defensive coordinator Thursday by interviewing Robert Saleh for a second stint at the job and Detroit Lions assistant Deshea Townsend.

The Las Vegas Raiders have requested to interview Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph for their head coaching position. He is the seventh known candidate for the position after Antonio Pierce was fired last week.

Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has put together one of the most consistent units in football over the last few seasons. With the Lions' recent success coupled with the defensive prowess that Glenn's units have exhibited, there's no wonder why Glenn is one of the most sought after head-coaching candidates this cycle.
