The NHL trade deadline is just a couple of days away and Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is looking to upgrade his roster. The Maple Leafs are pushing for a Atlantic Division title and would love to have home-ice advantage as much as possible throughout the playoffs.

While Brad Treliving has been careful with his words while tempering expectations, those within the team are making their wishes clear, including head coach Craig Berube. “We’re all looking to better our team if we can. That’s the best way I put it,” Berube said before Wednesday's game.

Treliving spoke to the media Saturday in Pittsburgh, and it sounds like adding one of the more impactful players available is less likely.

Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs are going to be looking to make the right deal but the GM is also looking for something specific in order to get a trade completed.

Despite the Leafs being linked to big names like Mikko Rantanen and St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn in recent weeks, Treliving’s latest remarks, per Joshua Kloke of The Athletic, suggest Toronto may opt for more conservative deadline additions.
