PHOENIX — The suspect in a stabbing that left a student dead at Maryvale High School in west Phoenix is in custody, Phoenix police say. Phoenix police officers responded to a stabbing call at Maryvale High School before 11 a.m.

Chris Aguilar, 16, has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of Michael Montoya II. Aguilar had a 4-inch knife, court records said.

Two students were involved in a stabbing at Maryvale High School, resulting in one death and another in custody.

Maryvale High School in west Phoenix is currently under lockdown after an incident in a classroom that injured a student.
