Atmospheric river researchers in Marysville begin critical work amid Northern California storm
As a storm moves through Northern California, the real work is just beginning for atmospheric river researchers.
A level three event on the atmospheric river scale is a long-duration, high-intensity storm that could produce flooding throughout San Diego County.
The National Weather Service has canceled the flash flood warning for much of Southern California. Flooding, mud and debris flows continue to cause headaches across Southern California as a significant atmospheric river soaked the region.
A strong atmospheric river moving inland Wednesday night through Friday will bring heavy rain and wind to Stockton as well as snow in the Sierra.
The storm could trigger dangerous flash floods and mudslides, but it may also extinguish California’s wildfire season.
The Moses West Foundation, a nonprofit with Austin roots, says its atmospheric water generator is producing 300 to 400 gallons of water for recovering Jamaicans.
