The Indianapolis Colts might not say it publicly, but their experiment with quarterback Anthony Richardson has reached its conclusion. By naming Daniel Jones as the Week 1 starter over Richardson, the Colts have essentially admitted that the fourth overall pick in the 2023 draft simply doesn't have a future in Indianapolis.

After Shane Steichen made the decision on Tuesday that Daniel Jones would be the Indianapolis Colts' starting quarterback, linebacker Zaire Franklin spoke with the media on Wednesday and shared his thoughts on the competition.

The Colts' third-string quarterback is rookie sixth-round pick Riley Leonard; with Jones missing time in four of his six seasons due to injury, they need a legitimate backup quarterback. Don't expect the Colts to release Richardson.
