When the plan was first reported, the WNBA pushed back with a statement that said “relocation decisions are made by the WNBA Board of Governors and not by individual teams.” On Tuesday, a new report suggested that the Sun’s owners are considering options to salvage the record sale.
Last week, in front of thousands of fans at Chase Center, the Golden State Valkyries introduced their new mascot: a glasses-wearing purple raven named Violet, who hopped onto the court at halftime of their game against the Connecticut Sun and quickly won the hearts of Valkyries’ supporters.
In the second quarter, Sophie Cunningham was forced to exit the game when Sun player Bria Hartley fell awkwardly into her. Cunningham was standing under the basket playing defense while driving, Sun guard Bria Hartley fell into her lower left leg after making a pass.
The Washington Mystics (16-18) fight for a playoff spot on Wednesday when they face the Connecticut Sun (6-27), who aim to play spoiler at the CareFirst Arena.

The Connecticut Sun (6-27) head back on the road for a match-up with the Washington Mystics (16-18) on Tuesday, August 19 at 7:30 PM ET at CareFirst Arena. The game will air locally on NBC Sports Boston with Brendan Glasheen and Ashley Battle on the call.
After Friday’s loss, Dallas has a record of 9-25. The Wings have the third-worst record in the WNBA, ahead of only the Chicago Sky (8-25) and the Connecticut Sun (6-26).
