This is a baby squirrel making distress cries for mom…Breaks my heart they were blown out of trees during the hurricane. They all don’t cry like this when I pick them up but some feel threatened like I’m a predator so they sound the alarm. Baby Squirrel Crying Out For Mom These three baby squirrels were born inside an exhaust vent for a stove. The mother squirrel packed the vent full of newspaper pieces, twigs, grass for their nest. As we were removing the nest and babies from the vent, the mother squirrel took that as an opportunity to come running out of the vent.
