I love climbing cold ice in summer's heat. The roar of the water, figuring out how to operate as a team with a reasonable safety margin in a really volatile place, and the stoke of just doing something so far out there that it sinks into your brain forever is why I still love this sport 40 years after I first swung tools. So good! I also always wrestle with the radical changes I see in glaciers and ice globally, even as I drive and fly (using carbon and contributing to glacial retreat) to visit
