Melrose Abbey in the Scottish Borders was founded by King David I of Scotland in 1136! It’s also where you can find the heart of Robert the Bruce- it’s buried next to the abbey after he requested his heart be embalmed and taken on crusade to Spain. His heart ended up going missing, but later found it’s way back to Melrose and was buried at the abbey as per his request.
