We are celebrating 172 years of protecting and serving Placer County. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office was incepted on April 25, 1851, and since then, it has had 28 sheriffs. But we have a plan to permanently conserve more than 47,000 acres of open space and agricultural land in western Placer County – the equivalent of 55 Central Parks – and streamline the permitting process for locally-approved development projects. It’s called the Placer County Conservation Program. More than 15 years in the making it is now available for public review. Learn more and share your tho

Last night, Placer County Sheriff’s Office Marine 6 and U.S. Coast Guard assisted a vessel that was taking on water and sinking on Lake Tahoe, near Tahoe Vista. The Marine 6 crew off-loaded the group of five boaters onto their boat. The crew then used their “de-watering” pumps to clear enough water out of the sinking boat, so that Deputy Brady and a Coast Guardsman could make repairs to slow the leak. Marine 6 towed the vessel to a private lift in Incline Village. All passengers were unharmed an
