Orson Wells on “Citizen Kane” and directing. I don’t think it’s very helpful to take the complete opposite approach of “these guys” who make a “big mystery” of filmmaking, and downgrade it to that extent. Orson could have worked more to secure good budgets for his films and keep perfecting his craft, but it seemed like he gave up on that idea too early on.
