Dallas Area Rapid Transit (Official DART page) Silver Line is officially rolling through Downtown Carrollton as testing began the week of April 27. Trains are running on weekdays from 9am-4pm, horns included, so don’t be alarmed. These are just practice runs with no passengers onboard. Once complete, the 26 mile route will link DFW Airport to Plano with stops in seven cities, and yes, Carrollton is on the map. “Bay Area Wildlife” illustrator and acclaimed poet-naturalist Obi Kaufmann took riders on a first-of-its-kind BART Train Expedition! The free, family-friendly ride on an in-service passenger train took riders on a journey through the East Bay’s mosaicked, ecological landscape – all through the windows of a Yellow Line train. During the ride, Kaufmann transported us through “deep time” as he told stories about the area’s ecosystems, water, fire, infrastructure, volcanic history, trees, and more.
