Trade unions across Italy brought the country to a standstill on Monday to protest Israel's genocide in Gaza. The 24-hour general strike was one of the largest national protests against Israel seen in Europe. All over the country, the strike shut down schools and disrupted transport, reportedly leading to clashes between protestors and police. On the same day, the UK, Canada, Australia and France announced their recognition of Palestine as a state ahead of the UN General Assembly in New York. |
