But remember, Phillis Wheatley and Jupiter Hammin published poetry a century earlier. Also, Ahmed Baba wrote 50 books in West Africa in the 1500s, and about 4,500 years ago the first book ever written was written by an African man in Kemet named Ptahhotep.
