The target isn't arbitrary and it's definitely not the same for everyone. Where you land depends on your age, how active you are, and what else is going on medically. The math itself is straightforward once you know it. Start with your weight in pounds, divide by 2.2, then multiply by 1.6. That number in grams is your daily goal. It doesn't have to be
