In 1984, Fat Boys introduced a group that helped reshape early hip hop. The Brooklyn trio, The Fat Boys made up of Prince Markie Dee, Kool Rock-Ski, and the Human Beatbox Darren Robinson, brought humor, personality, and beatboxing to the forefront at a time when hip hop was still defining itself. Released on Sutra Records, the album featured tracks like Jail House Rap and Fat Boys. More importantly, it helped push beatboxing into the mainstream as a core element of hip hop rather than a novelty.
